I thank Dr Fahri for his wonderful work. Recently I heard a lot how good and cheap Turkey is in medical services. My mother needed knee replacements in both her knees and after some research I heard of Dr Fahri from a Turkish business partner of mine. I was told Dr Fahri is one of the most experienced surgeons who can perform a double knee replacement at the same time. Mr Ege who is the international patient coordinator responded back to me in a few minutes and requested information and medical files of my mother. The next day he got back to me with a detailed explanation of the problem, treatment options and the process. The fact that Dr Fahri specialises in knee replacement and has around 30 years of experience on the surgery made us choose him. Also, my Turkish friend's strong recommendation played a role in our decision. Mr Ege met us at the airport and was with us during our transfer and hotel check-in. After the physical examination, Dr Fahri’s team organized the surgery and my mom was operated on our 3rd day in Istanbul. Dr Fahri visited us in the hospital regularly, helped my mother walk and demonstrated physical therapy exercises. We stayed at the hospital for a week and flew back on the morning of our 10th day. My mother’s pain is gone and I can see how happy she is with the results. She is much more active and started to enjoy life again. We were worried about the surgery, but after seeing how it helped my mother I strongly recommend it to anyone with the same problem. Don’t be afraid, and know that your life will get much better only in weeks. Thank you once again for everything Dr Fahri, we are so glad we met you. Warmest regards. Here is a layer of tissue,called fascia, under the skin of palm which helps to keep the skin from sliding around when we grip things. In some people, this tissue thickens and shrinks, and pulls on the skin and and on the fingers(figure 1 ). Dupuytren’s disease is observed usually in men over 40. Frequency is more in diabetic ones. Ring and small fingers are affected more. Any relationship between patient’s occupation and the disease is not proven. Swollen and bent fingers are seen in the examination. Extension is limited depending on the severity of the disease. Palmar noduls are typically painless. Sometimes it is confused with trigger finger at the early stages. Patients have serious difficulties in hand washing, hand shaking, wearing gloves etc…..  Progress rate changes from patient to patient. Existence of nodules is not an indication for surgery itself. Steroid injections on nodules may decrease the rate of progression in selected cases. If the angle between the affected finger and palm is equal or more than 70 degrees, surgery is considred. The affected part of the palm fascia and its extensions are removed. To be able to protect vital structures such as vessels, nerves and tendons is important. Sometimes skin grafts from other parts of the body may be needed. Wound care, massage, exercises and splinting is important to get the best result and prevent recurrence.
